Spoon & Dr. Dog

Thanks to recommendations by readers...I've made my selection for today's blog!! :) And if you are reading, and you have a band you think I should check out and discuss, feel free to let me know! I'm always looking for something hot and new.

Old: Spoon--"I Summon You"
The reader that recommended this is the one who introduced me to this awesome band about a year ago. This indie rock band out of Texas has so many songs that I love, I don't even think I can choose which to discuss. Lets see..."I Summon You" is definitely one of my favorite Spoon songs. I really love the sound of the guitar on this song in particular. They're one of those bands that I find myself listening to on a long car ride. One of the great things about Spoon is the quality of every album they've released. They never let down the listener. Each album offers you something different, and although that's a tricky for a band to pull of successfully, they have managed to do so every time. So, if you ever have a large amount of time on your hands, you should check out each album in progression, and see how they have grown. They have released some incredible music. I don't have much more to say about Spoon--except that I love them. And you should check them out. Because their music says more about them than I ever could. :)

Other songs to check out: "The Way We Get By" and "Finer Feelings"

New: Dr Dog--"The Breeze"
Anyone who knows me knows my infatuation with the Beatles. A reader recommended I check out this band, whom they likened to a mix of the Beatles and Ben Folds Five, and I have to say-she hit the nail on the head with that description. Dr. Dog is a psychedelic rock band from Philly. Their website proclaims their interest in three-part harmony, which is very reminiscent of the Beatles. Their strong piano influence with their beautiful vocals are what makes them similar to Ben Folds, although they do incorporate a wide variety of instruments into their music. All-in-all...definitely a band I'll be adding to my everyday musical repertoire!

Other songs to check out: "The Ark", "Worst Trip", and "The Old Days"

That's all for now loves!
And thanks for the recommendations. Keep them coming!! :)

Peace, Love, & RockNRoll
