Cage the Elephant & We Were Promised Jetpacks

Hey everyone! Sorry its been so long, again! Since my last post I have finally moved home to New York and should have more time on my hands to keep this far more updated as I begin my quest for a job (along with the rest of 2009's graduating classes nationwide). Haha Lollapalooza was an absolutely amazing experience. I could blog for days about that in itself! Hope you are enjoying the start of the holiday season. It snowed for the first time here in NY this weekend (YUCKKKK!). Here are some tunes to help make the cold weather a little less painful. :)

Old:Cage the Elephant--"Back Against the Wall"
This group of Kentucky boys produce a sound quite far from their roots in a strict, Pentecostal home. They have a rather bluesy-punk sound, which some have likened to that of the White Stripes (although I can't say I ENTIRELY agree, heh). Starting out as a hit in the UK, they semi-recently scored a spot performing on Letterman which will is definitely helping them to become more well known here in the US. I really love lead singer Matt Shultz's voice; it really reminds me of someone--but im drawing a complete blank! haha maybe I'll think of it eventually...anyway, "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" is their most widely known song at this point. It is another great song in addition to my current personal fave, "Back Against the Wall". So...check em out. They've got some great jams. And if you're like me--you can dance while you wrap some Christmas presents. :)

Other songs to Check Out: "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" and "In One Ear"

New: We Were Promised Jetpacks--"Quiet Little Voices"
I know...I know...you're probably saying "Come on...another band full of boys with foreign accents?!". But what can I say??? It must be a weakness of mine! Haha Accents aside--these Scottish boys really put together an awesome indie rock band! Their debut album was just released this June, and is definitely something worth checking out. They're finished up touring overseas this summer, and hit a lot of the major US cities during September and October. Their lyrics are laced with sentimentality that is rather Dashboard-esque, but it is never overdone. They manage to balance out some amazing lyrics with a bold, crisp "post-punk" sound that rocks a bit harder than anything Dashboard. Yet they still have that ability to give you a range of feelings from that warm fuzzy to serious goosebumps. :)

Other songs to Check Out: "Roll Up Your Sleeves" and "Keeping Warm"

As always, thanks for reading and listening. Enjoy (and I promise to update more often!!!)

Peace,Love,& RockNRoll,
--A
